Student Code of Conduct
I. Introduction
Black Girls Dive Foundation is a community of students, faculty, volunteers and staff involved in learning, teaching, research, and other activities. All members of this community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that contributes positively to an environment in which respect, civility, diversity, opportunity, and inclusiveness are valued, so as to assure the success of both the individual and the community. The Scholar Code of Conduct provides a framework to support behavioral goals and disciplinary policies.
II. Purpose
The purpose of this Scholar Code of Conduct is to define the general standard of conduct expected of program participants, provide examples of conduct that may be subject to disciplinary action by BGDF, provide examples of disciplinary measures that may be imposed, and set out the process and procedures that BGDF will follow when an allegation of misconduct is made. All participants are expected to be aware of and abide by this Scholar Code of Conduct. Parents/guardians are encouraged to read the Scholar Code of Conduct carefully and to discuss the information with their children
The Scholar Code of Conduct sets out the standards of conduct expected of participants in our STREAMS program. It holds individuals and groups responsible for the consequences of their actions. Failure to fulfill these responsibilities may result in the withdrawal of privileges or the imposition of sanctions.
BGDF respects the right of program participants to conduct their own personal lives. This Code governs conduct only to the extent necessary to protect the integrity and proper functioning of BGDF activities, the peaceful and safe enjoyment of activities at BDF facilities, or to protect the property of BGDF or its members.
III. Application of Policy
The Scholar Code of Conduct applies to any participant enrolled in the STREAMS program. The Code applies to conduct that occurs on or near BGD chapter sites. It also applies to conduct that occurs elsewhere if it is related to BGDF sponsored programs or activities, or if it occurs in the context of a relationship between the participant and a third party that are providing ad hoc support services.
